How we make money

Short version: right now, we don’t. This page exists so that if that ever changes, you’ll be able to see exactly how.

Where things stand

Commodities Unfiltered carries no advertising, no sponsored posts, no paid tier and no affiliate links. Nobody pays us to cover anything, and we don’t earn a commission if you buy something we’ve mentioned. We’re building the archive first and worrying about revenue later.

What would change, and what wouldn’t

If we do introduce a way to earn from the site, this page gets updated before it goes live, and the about page will say the same thing. Whatever the model turns out to be, a few rules are fixed:

• A commercial relationship will never decide what we cover, what we conclude, or how we present the numbers.
• We will never take payment to write favourably about a stock, a project or a product, and we won’t run “sponsored research” dressed up as analysis.
• If a link earns us anything, it will be marked where it appears, not buried in a footer.
• Anything sponsored will be labelled as sponsored and kept apart from our reporting.

Why we’re strict about this

Most commodities coverage online exists to sell something: bullion, a newsletter, a stock promotion. We started this site to be the opposite of that. Keeping money separate from conclusions is the only thing that makes the sourcing worth anything.
